Gran Turismo 7 receives major physics and vehicle update
Polyphony Digital has released update 1.71 for Gran Turismo 7, marking one of the most significant content and system overhauls for the title since its 2022 launch. The update introduces several new vehicles, including the Toyota Chaser Tourer V, Mark II Tourer V, Caterham Seven Superlight R500, and the Hyundai IONIQ 6 N.
Beyond new cars, the patch implements major changes to the game’s core physics engine. These adjustments affect tire algorithms, suspension, steering geometry, torque control, and force feedback for racing wheels. The update also adds new track content to the Circuit Experience Mode and expands interactions within the game’s Cafe mode.
Player feedback regarding the physics changes has been largely positive, with many noting that the handling feels more “progressive.” Users have reported that the transition between grip and slip is smoother, moving away from a previous “on/off switch” sensation. This shift has specifically improved the experience for drifting enthusiasts and corrected handling issues in certain race cars, such as the GR010 Hybrid.
