Granada and Cáceres campaign for European Capital of Culture 2031

The city of Cáceres promoted its bid to become the European Capital of Culture 2031 during a nationwide interview on Onda Cero, with Mayor Rafael Mateos highlighting the town’s heritage, cultural vibrancy and innovative projects as reasons for support.

In Andalusia, the Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FAMP) endorsed Granada’s candidacy, signing a declaration that aims to rally the backing of all 770 Andalusian municipalities, eight provincial councils, 80 inter‑municipal bodies and 35 autonomous local entities. Granada’s mayor Marifrán Carazo described the move as a step toward making the bid a shared project across the whole region.
