Granada earthquakes trigger over 41,000 insurance claims

The Consorcio de Compensación de Seguros (CCS) has processed 41,228 indemnity requests following a series of earthquakes in Granada that began on August 15. The preliminary estimated cost for these claims exceeds 105 million euros.

Most requests come from residential communities, with 36,776 claims related to housing. Other claims include 1,880 from businesses and warehouses, 409 from offices, and 111 from industrial risks. Geographically, the highest volume of requests originated in Granada capital (21,130), followed by Armilla (3,746) and Ogíjares (2,820). Some claims have also been filed in Málaga, Jaén, and Almería.

Seismic activity remains ongoing. The National Geographic Institute (IGN) recently recorded over forty earthquakes in a single day, including tremors in La Zubia, Churriana de la Vega, and Armilla. This follows more significant seismic events in mid-August, including tremors measuring 5.0 and 4.8 magnitude in Alhendín and Gójar.
