Granada expands rural pharmacy program 'Mi Reto' for seniors

The Granada Provincial Council and the College of Pharmacists have renewed their collaboration to continue the "Mi Reto" project, which provides free pharmaceutical assistance to older residents of municipalities at risk of depopulation. The program now adds two services: systematic recording of clinical parameters such as blood pressure, glucose, cholesterol and oxygen saturation, and a review of each user's home medicine cabinet to remove expired or unnecessary drugs. Deputy María Vera said the renewal strengthens preventive care and supports rural autonomy, while College President Juan Eloy Jiménez highlighted how community pharmacies can help seniors live longer with greater independence and safety.
