Granada region advances public transport contracts and highway plans

The Junta of Andalusia has signed the first renewed contracts for two metropolitan bus lines serving the Granada area. Lines 300 and 323, connecting Granada with Huétor Santillán, Beas de Granada, Olivares, Tiena, Moclín, Tózar and Limones, began operating under the new agreements on 10 June. The contracts represent an investment of about €1.3 million and are part of a broader programme to upgrade 988 bus routes across the autonomous community, organised in 16 lots covering 88 routes. Further contracts for 18 additional lines are expected before August, aiming to modernise the service for thousands of daily users.

Separately, the municipality of Cúllar Vega has filed objections to the VAU‑5 highway project, requesting that the road include a direct exit at the GR‑3304 level and that the crossing be built at the same level rather than as an overpass. The town argues that a dedicated nodule is essential to prevent traffic congestion and to improve connectivity for residents travelling to Granada and the Second Ring Road. The deadline for submitting these objections is 21 July.
