Sean Tiessen, 47, is testifying in a manslaughter trial at the Rossland Supreme Court regarding the April 2023 death of Joshua Lockwood, 33. Tiessen, who is facing one count of manslaughter, claims he acted in self-defence.

During court proceedings, audio recordings from Tiessen’s phone were played, including a 911 call where he alleged Lockwood approached him with an axe or hatchet. Tiessen testified that he feared for his life and cited a history of domestic disturbances between Lockwood and Keera Roberts at the shared residence.

RCMP crime scene manager Sgt. David Mackey provided testimony regarding the investigation and weapons seized from the Granby Road home, including a .22-calibre semi-automatic pistol magazine. Roberts, Lockwood’s girlfriend, also testified that a confrontation occurred between Tiessen and Lockwood shortly before the fatal gunshot wound to the chest was fired.
