Grand Paris officials warn of catastrophic social housing crisis

Elected officials from the Communist, Citizen, and Ecologist Group of the Métropole du Grand Paris have issued an alert regarding a catastrophic social housing situation in the Île-de-France region.

In the Grand Paris Metropolis alone, over 709,190 people are currently waiting for social housing. The average wait time to secure a home is reported to be eleven years. Officials described the shortage as a form of ‘institutional maltreatment’ and warned that the crisis is expected to worsen without corrective action.
