Grand Yoff police dismantle customs document forgery ring

Police in Grand Yoff have dismantled a suspected forgery network following the discovery of hundreds of counterfeit customs documents. The investigation began when an individual presented a Jakarta brand motorcycle to the police station to resolve a dispute. During a technical inspection, officers identified alterations to the chassis number and irregularities in the accompanying paperwork.

Investigations led to the arrest of a seller who admitted to providing a fraudulent certificate of consumption (CMC) to a buyer. The seller stated the document was produced by the manager of a multi-service business in the Derklé-Dieuppeul area for 30,000 FCFA.

A subsequent search of the business premises resulted in the seizure of hundreds of counterfeit certificates bearing customs headers. Authorities believe these documents were used to regularize motorcycles, many of which are suspected to be of illicit origin.
