Police operations in Grand Yoff

Overview

Police in the Grand Yoff district have conducted several operations targeting different types of criminal activity.

In mid-October, authorities dismantled a forgery ring after discovering hundreds of counterfeit customs documents. The investigation, triggered by a dispute involving a motorcycle with an altered chassis number, led to the arrest of a seller and the seizure of fraudulent certificates used to regularize motorcycles.

Between October 18 and 19, police conducted two separate operations. Near the Patte d’Oie market, officers intercepted a repeat offender attempting to sell three mobile phones—two iPhones and one Redmi—to a suspected fence. Technical analysis enabled officers to identify and return the devices to a victim from the Parcelles Assainies district.

In a second incident near the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) route in HLM Grand Yoff, a motorcyclist appeared intoxicated and attempted to evade a patrol before crashing. Upon inspection, officers discovered a machete concealed in his clothing. The suspect, who is known to judicial services, was suspected of intending to commit public assaults. Both individuals were taken into custody as investigations continue.
