Grand-Yoff: Two men arrested after violent assault on minor

In Grand-Yoff, Senegal, two men, Cheikh Bop and Soudou Faye, have been taken into custody following a violent assault on a 14-year-old boy. The victim was falsely accused of stealing a mobile phone.

The attack occurred on October 3 around 7:30 p.m. The group of four individuals intercepted the minor and struck him in the head with a machete. While the victim was on the ground, he was further assaulted with punches and kicks. The victim was evacuated to Idrissa Pouye Hospital, where medical reports indicate a skull fracture and loss of mobility in his right leg and left arm.

Police arrested Bop and Faye with the assistance of a witness, while other members of the group escaped. The suspects admitted to the attack but attempted to minimize the severity of the injuries and attributed the machete strike to another individual currently at large. The suspects are being held for attempted murder as the investigation continues.
