Granelli Beach Pilot to Make Sicily Coast Accessible for Disabled

Regional deputy Riccardo Gennuso (Forza Italia) inspected the Granelli beach in Pachino with Mayor Giuseppe Gambuzza and Vice‑Mayor Sebastiano Rosa to launch a pilot project aimed at removing barriers for people with disabilities. The initiative follows a regional law proposal introduced by Gennuso in January 2023 that calls for structural improvements to public seafronts. Granelli is to become a replicable model for other coastal municipalities in the province of Siracusa, with coordination among the regional government, local authorities and the regional health agency (ASP), which will provide socio‑health operators (OSS) during the bathing season. The goal is to turn the principle of universal beach access into a daily service, creating an institutional network that could be extended throughout the province.
