Graneros woman found dead and her partner arrested in Tucumán

A 35-year-old woman, Judith Nazarena Jerez, was found dead in her home in the La Cañada area of Graneros, Tucumán, on Monday, October 5. Her partner, 39-year-old Pablo Salvador Pitali, was discovered hiding under a bed at the scene with bloodstains on his body.

According to the Tucumán Public Prosecutor's Office, the victim's brother alerted authorities after finding her lifeless. Preliminary reports indicate Jerez had a head injury. Pitali was apprehended and is undergoing testing to determine if he has gunshot residue on his person. He reportedly made a spontaneous statement claiming he had committed a ‘grave error’ involving a firearm.

The Specialized Homicide Prosecution Unit of the Concepción Judicial Center is leading the investigation. Forensic teams (ECIF) have been deployed, and an autopsy has been ordered to determine the exact cause of death. A formal hearing to present charges is expected to take place this Wednesday.
