Authorities have launched a murder investigation after a house fire in Grangetown claimed the lives of a seven-year-old girl and her 34-year-old aunt. Police stated they cannot rule out links to organized crime.

This follows a fatal head-on collision on the A66 near South Bank, where two police officers, PC Matthew Blades and PC Tom Clough, and five young men were killed when a vehicle traveling the wrong way struck their car. An inquest revealed the officers died from head and neck injuries.

Additional violence has been reported, including a stabbing in the Bankfields estate and a vehicle ramming a property in South Bank. Local officials have expressed concern over escalating gang warfare in the region.
