Granja Tres Arroyos suspends 150 workers at Pilar plant for August amid wage dispute

Granja Tres Arroyos announced that its Pilar plant in La Lonja will be closed for the entire month of August 2026, suspending about 150 employees from August 3 to August 30. The company said no operational activities will take place unless staff are specifically called by management.

The suspension comes as the poultry firm faces a broader labor crisis. Workers at the company’s La China plant in Concepción del Uruguay have also been idle, leaving more than 900 employees without work. Employees allege salary delays of at least two months, unpaid half‑year bonuses and a failure to pay the 2025 mid‑year aguinaldo. Unions, including the Sindicato de Trabajadores de Industrias de la Alimentación (STIA), have met with government officials such as Economy Minister Sergio Frigerio seeking a solution.

Granja Tres Arroyos, controlled by the De Grazia family, is one of Argentina’s leading avian producers and is currently restructuring debt estimated at roughly US$350 million. The August shutdown adds pressure on the company’s supply chain, affecting suppliers, transporters and integrated producers.
