Granja Tres Arroyos: 1,200 workers ordered to be reinstated
The Buenos Aires Ministry of Labor has mandated a 15-day compulsory conciliation period to address the labor crisis at the poultry company Granja Tres Arroyos. The intervention follows the dismissal of approximately 1,730 workers across various plants in Entre Ríos and Buenos Aires, representing over 25% of the company's total workforce.
The conciliation order specifically mandates the reinstatement of 1,200 workers from plants in Capitán Sarmiento, Pilar, and Esteban Echeverría. As part of the negotiated terms, the company has agreed to donate 1,000 crates of chicken to the affected employees and provide an advance cash payment during the coming week.
A new hearing between the company and the Food Industry Union (STIA) is scheduled for next Thursday to continue negotiations. The company is currently facing a severe financial and operational crisis, including significant wage arrears, millions in debt, and legal claims from creditors. Some reports indicate the group's total debt may exceed US$ 350.9 million.
