Swiss police issue warnings regarding theft and traffic safety

Swiss law enforcement agencies have issued multiple public safety warnings across various cantons. In Luzern and Aargau, police are alerting the public to a surge in trick thefts. Perpetrators often use pretextual interactions, such as asking for directions, to approach victims—frequently elderly individuals—before using physical contact or fake gifts to steal gold jewelry and other valuables.

Regarding road safety, authorities in Basel-Landschaft and Zurich are warning drivers about the increased risk of wildlife collisions during the autumn months. Police advise motorists to reduce speed and remain alert during dawn and dusk when animals like deer are most active. Drivers are reminded of their legal obligation to report all wildlife accidents to the police, even if no visible damage to the vehicle occurred.

Additionally, the Federal Office for Customs and Border Security (BAZG) is actively recruiting new specialists to bolster security at border posts and on roads, particularly in the Geneva region.
