Brazil municipalities expand public health services and infrastructure
Various Brazilian municipalities are implementing measures to expand and improve public health services.
In Feira de Santana, the Policlínica Osvaldo Monteiro Pirajá is expanding its specialized services to include hematology, rheumatology, neuropediatrics, and speech therapy, alongside new diagnostic exams such as electroencephalograms and echocardiography.
In Cuiabá, the municipal health department is promoting access to the Reference Unit for Integrative and Complementary Health Practices (URPICS). Located in Horto Florestal Toti Garcia, the unit offers therapies such as reiki, aromatherapy, auriculotherapy, and community therapy. Access requires participation in group activities like Biodanza or Community Therapy as an initial step.
Other regional updates include: - Teresina: The ‘Carretinha da Saúde’ is providing ophthalmology, speech therapy, and dental services to children aged 0 to 6 in the Monte Verde area. - Cabedelo: Six basic health units received new medical equipment, including digital scales, electrocardiographs, and ultrasound machines, through a federal program. - Gravataí: The municipality inaugurated the Bonsucesso Basic Health Unit, the 11th new structure delivered under the current administration, offering pediatric, general clinical, and gynecological services.
