GRAVITEO Skate Race to Transform Barcelona-Catalunya Circuit into Speed Skating Track

The GRAVITEO Skate Race will turn the Circuit de Barcelona‑Catalunya in Montmeló into a speed‑skating venue on 19 July. Integrated into the GRAVITEO Urban Sports Festival, which runs from 17‑19 July, the race offers 5‑km and 10‑km distances and three age categories – Sub‑11, Sub‑15 and Absoluta – each split into male and female divisions.

Open to participants of all skill levels, the event promises prize money for podium finishers in the absolute categories and provides official event T‑shirts to early registrants. Safety measures are highlighted, and the circuit’s 4.727‑km layout, with its long straight, gradients and a total elevation change of 29.7 m, is promoted as a unique challenge for both amateurs and professionals. The festival also hosts European climbing championships and national skateboarding, roller freestyle and scooter competitions, emphasizing a broader urban‑sports experience.

The race aims to attract families, friends and individual athletes, offering free public access after prior registration and encouraging broader engagement with speed skating in a venue traditionally associated with Formula 1 and MotoGP.
