Graviteo Urban Sports Festival: Barcelona and A Coruña plans
Overview
The Graviteo Urban Sports Festival, held from 15–21 July 2026 at the Circuit de Barcelona‑Catalunya, served as a major showcase for urban disciplines including skateboarding, climbing, scooter, and roller freestyle. Organized by Prensa Ibérica and the Generalitat de Catalunya under the “esports 360” programme, the event drew over 1,000 athletes from more than 35 countries.
Key competitions included the European Bouldering Championship and the European Speed Climbing Cup. In the bouldering finals, French climber Oriane Bertone secured gold, followed by teammates Zélia Avezou and Samuel Richard. Climbing legend Chris Sharma attended the event, supporting the growth of the sport in Catalonia. Spanish athletes such as Carla Martínez, Geila Macià, and speed climber Miguel Gómez were prominent participants.
Skateboarding highlights featured the Spanish Street and Vert Championships, with Olympic skater Julia Benedetti noting the sport’s professional evolution. The festival also integrated mass-participation activities like the Graviteo Skate Race, a duathlon, and 3x3 basketball. Despite temperatures near 35 °C, the event maintained high engagement through music, food trucks, and sponsor experiences from CUPRA.
Following Barcelona, the festival moves to the Graviteo A Coruña Xacobeo, scheduled for 18–20 September 2026 at the Port of A Coruña. The event is expected to host approximately 500 athletes across the city’s maritime front, featuring disciplines such as parkour, speed climbing, and psicobloc. Specific scheduled competitions include the international and Galician speed climbing Open, with absolute categories on 19 September and a youth Open on 20 September. Other featured events include the Psicobloc Master Series, the Spanish Parkour Championship, and the A Coruña Boulder Open. Mayor Inés Rey noted the event’s potential to generate positive social and economic impacts for local tourism and commerce, while General Secretary for Sport Roberto García stated the initiative aims to project the image of Galicia.
