Barcelona hosts GRAVITEO Urban Sports Festival with European Boulder Championships
From July 17‑19 the Circuit de Barcelona‑Catalunya will turn into the GRAVITEO Urban Sports Festival. The three‑day event combines a showcase of urban culture – skate, roller, scooter, music and graffiti – with top‑level sport.
The headline competition is the World Climbing Europe Championship (Bouldering), part of the World Climbing Europe Series, where Europe’s elite climbers will contest the title. Defending champion Sam Avezou of France leads the men’s field, joined by world‑ranked peers such as Mejdi Schalck, Hannes Van Duyse, Maximillian Milne and Dayan Akhtar. On the women’s side Oriane Bertone, Zélia Avezou and other French climbers are among the favourites.
The festival also stages the Spanish national championships in skateboarding (street and vert), roller freestyle (street and vert), scooter street and a Nordic‑walking cup. Public‑participation activities include a “Graviteo Skate Race” on the circuit track, a popular duathlon, a FIBA‑sanctioned U14 3×3 basketball tournament and various workshops for children and adults. Registration for the open events is handled through the official GRAVITEO website.
The combination of elite climbing competition and mass‑participation urban‑sport activities makes the festival a marquee summer event for Spain’s sporting calendar.
