Graylark Technologies expands AI tool to geolocate homes via interior photos
Graylark Technologies has expanded its AI tool, Raven (formerly GeoSpy), with a new capability to geolocate specific homes using only interior photographs. The system analyzes unique features within an image and matches them against databases of short-term rental and real estate listings, such as Airbnb, Zillow, and Vrbo.
Demonstrations show the tool can identify locations from seemingly mundane objects. For instance, a photo of a laundry machine led to a specific property in Charlotte, North Carolina, while a bathroom photo was linked to a listing in Montecito, California. The technology can successfully connect images from social media or other sources to property listings, even if the specific photo used was not originally uploaded to those real estate platforms.
Law enforcement agencies have already begun adopting the technology. The Los Angeles Police Department and the Miami-Dade County Sheriff's Office were the first confirmed purchasers of the tool under its previous name. The Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office noted that early testing demonstrates the potential for establishing investigative leads by identifying geographic and temporal dependencies.
