Grazia Deledda: Commemorations mark centenary of Nobel Prize win
Events in Biella, Italy, have honored the Sardinian Nobel laureate Grazia Deledda, marking one hundred years since she was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature. The commemorations included a narrative concert titled ‘Canne al vento. L’amore non conosce povertà’, performed by the Compagnia Tra parola e musica, which integrated literature with contemporary music and videoscenography.
In conjunction with these celebrations, Caravaggio Editore has released ‘La leggenda nera e altri racconti giovanili’. This illustrated collection brings to light sixteen novellas written by Deledda between 1888 and 1892. These early works explore themes of Sardinian folklore, gothic atmospheres, and impossible passions, offering insight into the author’s formative years before her most famous novels were published.
