Great Wall Motor launches Ora 5 hybrid and electric SUV in Europe and Australia

Great Wall Motor (GWM) is shifting its European strategy from pure‑electric models to a mixed lineup that includes the new Ora 5 compact SUV. The hybrid version, unveiled in Verona, combines a 1.5‑litre gasoline engine with two electric motors to deliver 187 hp and WLTP CO₂ emissions of 117 g/km. It offers a combined range of more than 1,000 km and starts at €26,950 for the gasoline model, €28,600 for the hybrid and €36,000 for the fully electric variant. Prices are set to be competitive in Italy and Germany, where the gasoline version is expected to be offered for about €24,990 after discounts.

In Australia, the Ora 5 is positioned as one of the cheapest electric SUVs, priced between AU$33,990 and AU$36,990. It is equipped with a 58.3 kWh LFP battery that the manufacturer claims provides a WLTC range of 430 km. Standard equipment includes a 14.6‑inch touchscreen, digital instrument cluster, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and optional V2L capability. GWM backs the model with a seven‑year unlimited‑kilometre warranty and an eight‑year battery warranty.
