GWM expands global lineup and European production

Overview

Great Wall Motor (GWM) continues to expand its global footprint and product diversity. In July 2026, GWM reported a 3.54% year-on-year increase in total vehicle deliveries to 108,067 units. While domestic sales in China fell by 27.23%, overseas markets saw a 50.93% surge, accounting for 57.39% of total monthly sales. To support international growth, GWM is rolling out the Ora 5 compact SUV under a strategy of “All Scenarios, All Powertrains.”

GWM is diversifying its powertrain offerings through the Haval H7 and Tank 300 lines. In October 2026, the Haval H7 launched in Brazil as a plug-in hybrid flex model and in Italy as a hybrid SUV. The Tank 300 also entered the Italian market with a plug-in hybrid Hi4-T variant. In South Africa, the H7 was released with six derivatives including 2.0-litre turbo-petrol, 1.5-litre hybrid, and 1.5-litre plug-in hybrid options. The flagship Hi4 PHEV model offers an electric range of up to 130km and vehicle-to-load technology. The H7 also entered the Spanish D-SUV segment as a five-seater.

In late October 2026, GWM revealed details for the Haval H7 in Germany, where it is scheduled to arrive by late 2026. The German lineup will include a 2.0-liter turbo petrol engine, a full hybrid, and a plug-in hybrid featuring the Hi4 system for the first time in Europe.

To strengthen its European presence, GWM is transitioning to a localized player by restarting vehicle assembly at the Bahovitsa plant in Bulgaria through a partnership with Bulgaria Automotive Industry (BAI). Starting in the first quarter of 2027, the facility aims to assemble the Ora 5 using semi-knocked down kits to mitigate EU tariffs on Chinese-made electric vehicles. GWM aims to establish at least 650 sales and service locations across Europe by the end of 2027.
