GWM to build second Brazil factory in Aracruz, ES
Great Wall Motor (GWM) announced the construction of a second vehicle manufacturing plant in Aracruz, Espírito Santo. The project will occupy about 1.7 million m² of land and is part of a R$10 billion investment programme in Brazil slated to run until 2032.
The new complex will be capable of producing up to 200,000 vehicles a year – initially 100,000 units, rising to the full capacity – using a single industrial platform that can assemble hybrid, electric and conventional‑combustion models. The Ora 5 electric SUV has been confirmed as the first model to roll off the new line.
The plant is expected to create roughly 9,000‑10,000 direct jobs and many more indirect positions in the supply chain and related services. It will serve the Brazilian market and is planned to export vehicles to neighbouring Latin‑American countries such as Argentina, Mexico, Chile, Colombia and Uruguay. The facility is projected to start operations in 2029, complementing GWM’s existing plant in Iracemápolis, São Paulo, which currently builds about 50,000 cars annually.
