Great Wall Motor to relaunch Ora Ballet Cat EV with stronger motor and possible Ora 6 name

Great Wall Motor (GWM) is preparing a major refresh of its retro‑styled electric hatchback, the Ora Ballet Cat. Regulatory filings in China show the facelift will replace the existing 126 kW (169 hp) motor with a 150 kW (201 hp) unit, raising the top speed from 155 km/h to 180 km/h while keeping the vehicle’s dimensions (4,401 mm L × 1,853 mm W × 1,681 mm H) and 18‑inch wheels. The design, which mimics the classic Volkswagen Beetle with rounded LED headlights, chrome trim and a curved roofline, will largely remain unchanged.

The update may also bring a rename to Ora 6, aligning the model with GWM’s newer alphanumeric naming scheme that has replaced earlier cat‑themed names. When launched in 2022, the Ballet Cat was marketed to female drivers with features such as “Lady Driving Mode,” a built‑in selfie camera and “Warm Man Mode” for cabin heating. Sales have been weak, with only 8,523 units delivered in China between July 2022 and June 2026, prompting the company to boost performance and possibly rebrand to revive interest. Pricing for the original model ranged from 193,000 to 223,000 yuan.
