Great Wall Motors expands Ora 5 lineup with Chinese sport trims and European hybrid launch

Great Wall Motors (GWM) unveiled two sport‑focused trims, the GT and Sport, for its Ora 5 crossover in China. Both variants feature aggressive styling cues such as a front splitter, side skirts, rear spoiler and two‑tone paintwork, while the Sport version adds a roof‑mounted LiDAR sensor. GWM said the powertrain remains unchanged, with electric outputs up to 204 hp and existing hybrid and combustion options.

The company also introduced a hybrid Ora 5 in Europe, launching sales in Germany. The hybrid pairs a 1.5‑litre turbocharged gasoline engine with an electric motor for a combined 223 hp and certified fuel consumption of 5.1 L/100 km. Priced at about €29,000 (discounted to €27,000 until the end of September), the model shares mechanical components with the Haval H6 HEV, easing cost and facilitating future rollout in Brazil, where GWM plans local production at its upcoming Aracruz plant and expects a fully electric version by early 2027.
