Greater Anglia to resume Wickford line services after train derailment
Greater Anglia is set to resume normal rail services on the Wickford line starting Wednesday, August 26, following a train derailment on August 14. The incident involved a train traveling from Southend Victoria to London Liverpool Street carrying more than 60 passengers; no injuries were reported.
Extensive repairs were required to restore the line, including the replacement of more than 3,700 sleepers and repairs to over 1.5 miles of track, as well as work on signaling and overhead line equipment. While services between Southend Victoria and London Liverpool Street are returning to the normal timetable, some early morning journey times may be extended as the service is reintroduced.
Replacement bus services will continue on the Wickford to Southminster line through Friday, August 28, due to pre-planned engineering work.
