Greater Noida mobile snatching gang busted, two suspects arrested

Police in Greater Noida’s Knowledge Park area arrested two suspected members of a mobile‑snatching gang on July 22. The suspects, identified as 23‑year‑old Faiyan Pathan and 22‑year‑old Farmaan, were stopped during a check near the Gurjarpur railway underpass. A search of their belongings uncovered 25 stolen mobile phones, two illegal firearms, two live cartridges and a motorcycle fitted with a fake licence plate.

Authorities said the duo regularly targeted pedestrians, seizing phones and fleeing on a fast motorcycle before reselling the devices at low prices. The police are now investigating the pair’s criminal history, probing for other gang members and working to return the recovered phones to their owners. The case is being pursued under sections of the Arms Act and other relevant statutes.
