NCR police crackdown on organized crime

Overview

In early July, Greater Noida police seized a drug‑smuggling network, arresting a Nigerian national and three locals and confiscating MDMA, heroin, cash, an illegal firearm and a scooter. Later that month they disrupted a mobile‑snatching gang in Knowledge Park, recovering 25 stolen phones, illegal firearms, live cartridges and a motorcycle with a fake licence plate. On 24 July, a coordinated raid by Delhi police dismantled an inter‑state two‑wheeler theft ring, leading to the recovery of multiple stolen motorcycles, an auto‑rickshaw and an illegal 315‑calibre rifle.

On 26 July, officers in Greater Noida’s Dadar area pursued two suspects linked to a mobile‑snatching robbery. The suspects opened fire, wounding one, Karan Nagar, who was hospitalized. Police subsequently detained both suspects, recovered the stolen phone, jewellery, the getaway vehicle and additional illegal weapons—including a 315‑bore flare gun, live and defective cartridges, and an illegal knife. The incident underscores the continued, region‑wide effort by Delhi and Greater Noida authorities to curb organized crime across drug trafficking, vehicle and phone theft, and illicit arms possession.
