Greece: 28 Serbian citizens died during summer season

Official data from the Serbian Ministry of Foreign Affairs reveals that 28 Serbian citizens lost their lives on the Greek coast during the current summer season, between June 1 and mid-August.

The most recent incident occurred on Monday at Sarti beach in Halkidiki, where 56-year-old Goran Komazec from Belgrade died after entering turbulent waters to rescue an unknown man being swept away by currents. Despite resuscitation efforts and transport to the Agios Nikolaos health center, he was pronounced dead. Preliminary assessments suggest cardiac arrest due to extreme physical exertion and sudden exposure to cold waves.

Other fatalities reported this season include a 74-year-old woman in Perea near Thessaloniki in June, and two men, aged 64 and 65, in Glarokavos near Pefkohori, both of whom died in June.
