Greece addresses energy costs and interconnection projects

Greek officials have addressed economic stability and energy infrastructure developments. Finance Minister and Eurogroup President Kyriakos Pierrakakis stated that Greece maintains fiscal reserves to support households and businesses against rising fuel and energy costs. He emphasized the need for European-wide solutions, noting that investments in energy interconnection and storage could eventually reduce costs by 30%.

Separately, Environment and Energy Minister Stavros Papastavrou commented on the Greece-Cyprus electrical interconnection project. He asserted that Greece is exercising its sovereign rights and is not seeking permission from third parties to proceed. Papastavrou highlighted the entry of the French company Meridian into the project as a vote of confidence in the Greek economy, noting the firm's experience with major interconnections like those between the UK and Germany.
