Greek 2026 university admission: four steps to complete the application form

The Ministry of Education is set to open the online platform for the 2026 university admission application (Mēchanographikós) in the coming days. Career‑counselling expert Aspsia Karavia explained that candidates should follow four key steps: (1) gather detailed information from programme guides; (2) place the most desired programme at the top of the list even if their score is below last year’s benchmark; (3) include a broad range of options, from high‑ranking departments to “safety‑net” schools; and (4) temporarily save the form and review it with a clear mind before final submission.

Karavia warned against basing choices solely on high score thresholds or the social prestige of programmes, urging students to let the application reflect their genuine interests. She reminded applicants that the system offers a “10 %” safety‑net for the next two years, allowing a new application with the same grade without re‑examining. The interview also touched on how artificial intelligence is reshaping the labour market, making versatile skills and adaptability as important as the degree itself.
