Greece allocates 2.4 million euros for special education upgrades

The Greek Ministry of Education, Religious Affairs and Sports has launched a digital and infrastructural upgrade for 420 Special Education and Training School Units (SMEAE). Through the Sectoral Development Program 2026-2030, a total of 2.4 million euros is being allocated across two major initiatives, each valued at 1.2 million euros.

The first initiative focuses on the procurement of specialized interactive learning software, such as the Kinems system, which connects learning with movement and interaction. This software is intended to support students with diverse needs, including those with Autism Spectrum Disorder, by helping to track performance, monitor progress, and document educational and therapeutic interventions.

The second initiative involves the creation of 40 Snoezelen multi-sensory exploration rooms across the country. These spaces are designed to assist students with sensory and emotional regulation. The program aims to enhance inclusive education, improve cognitive and motor skills, and provide a modern, accessible, and effective educational environment for students with special needs.
