Greece allocates €67 million to farmers affected by fires and floods

The Greek Ministry of Rural Development and Food announced a new round of state aid totaling more than €67 million to restore agricultural holdings damaged by severe wildfires and floods in 2023 and 2024. Five joint ministerial decisions were published in the Government Gazette, marking the final stage of the support process after earlier advances and initial payments.

The breakdown of the funds is: €35 million for the September 2023 floods (projects Daniel and Elias), €16 million for 2024 fire‑affected areas, €14 million for the major 2023 fires that hit Evros, Rhodes, Attica, Achaea, Euboea, Corfu, Corinth, Magnesia and other regions, €1.5 million for fires in 2023 in Fthiotida and Kavala, and €650 000 for fires during July‑August 2023 in Attica, Boeotia, Fthiotida and Magnesia. The resources come from the Special Programme for Natural Disasters within the Development Programme of Public Investments and will be disbursed through ELGA. The aid is tax‑free, non‑seizable and will not be offset against any public debts.
