Greece and Cyprus expand residential energy renovation grants

New updates have been announced regarding residential energy renovation programs in Greece and Cyprus.

In Greece, the eligibility certificate deadline for the ESPA 2021-2027 “Home Renovation” program, which has a budget of €500 million, has been extended to September 30, 2026. The program is expanding its criteria for closed residences, removing previous restrictions on the number of properties a single citizen can apply for during the second implementation stage. The updated regulations also refine terminology regarding minors and establish income-based prioritization for open residences.

In Cyprus, a new scheme with a €20 million budget is set to launch in September. This program offers grants for energy efficiency upgrades to existing homes, with maximum amounts reaching €32,000 for Type A investments and €24,000 for Type B. Eligible works include thermal insulation, window replacement, solar water heating, heat pumps, photovoltaic systems, and energy storage solutions. The grants are available to individuals whose homes are not used for commercial activities.
