Greece positions itself as strategic gateway for Indian trade via IMEC
Greek Development Minister Takis Theodorikacos met Indian Trade and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal to deepen cooperation in investments, trade and industry. In a parallel meeting, Eurogroup President and Greek Finance Minister Kyriakos Pirrakas also discussed the partnership, highlighting resilient supply chains, logistics, shipping, technology, agriculture, energy and tourism. Both sides stressed the Economic Corridor India‑Middle East‑Europe (IMEC) as a key project that will shorten trade routes between the sub‑continent and Europe, using Greek ports and infrastructure as a hub. The Greek officials described the relationship as a “strategic partnership” and quoted Theodorikacos saying “Η Ελλάδα και η Ινδία ενισχύουν τη συνεργασία τους σε επενδύσεις, εμπόριο και βιομηχανία”. The cooperation follows high‑level visits in 2023‑24 and aims to attract Indian investment while positioning Greece as a natural gateway to the EU market.
