Greece announces €16 million for fishing vessel investments

The Greek Ministry of Rural Development and Food has announced a €16 million funding program to support investments in fishing vessels under the ‘Fisheries, Aquaculture and Sea 2021-2027’ (PA LYTH) program. The initiative aims to support approximately 400 professional fishers and businesses through Action 1.1.2, which focuses on investments that do not increase fishing capacity.

Eligible applicants include owners of professional fishing vessels, operating as either sole proprietorships or legal entities, including co-ownerships. To qualify, vessels must have conducted fishing activities for at least 60 days within the two calendar years preceding the application year. The program covers both marine and inland fishing.

Funding rates vary based on the vessel type and location. General public support starts at 50%, but can reach up to 85% for projects implemented in remote Greek islands. Small-scale coastal vessels under 12 meters that do not use towed gear are eligible for 80% funding, which also increases to 85% in remote island regions. The deadline for submitting applications is September 15, 2026, at 15:00.
