Greece offers up to 50% ferry discounts for substitute teachers

The Greek Ministries of Education, Religious Affairs and Sports and Maritime Affairs and Insular Policy have launched an initiative to provide substitute teachers with ferry ticket discounts of up to 50% for the 2026-2027 school year. The program aims to facilitate the relocation of primary and secondary school substitute teachers to their assigned areas.

Discounts are available during specific periods: the start of the school year (September 5–11, 2026), Christmas (December 23, 2026 – January 7, 2027), Easter (April 23 – May 9, 2027), and the end of the school year (June 19 – July 3, 2027).

Participating companies include: • SEAJETS: 50% discount on passenger tickets and vehicles. • Levante Ferries Group: 50% discount on passenger and vehicle tickets. • Dodekanisos Seaways: 30% discount on individual tickets. • Other providers such as Fast Ferries, Golden Star Ferries, and Skyros Shipping Co. are also offering varying discounts between 20% and 30%.

To claim the discount, teachers must present their official appointment or placement decision along with a valid police ID. Most discounts must be processed through authorized agencies rather than online booking systems.
