Greece announces new travel vouchers for social tourism

Greece is introducing new travel voucher programs to support social tourism. Under the Thessaly Pass 2026 program, applications are expected to open in early September 2026 for the period of September to December 2026. The program offers a 200 euro tax-free voucher to all adult tax residents of Greece, with no specific income criteria mentioned. These vouchers can be used for local transport, dining, and accommodation specifically within the municipalities of Zagora-Mouresi, South Pelion, and Volos.

Separately, the broader social tourism program remains active until June 22, 2027. Beneficiaries can use these vouchers for up to six nights at accommodations listed in the DYPA provider registry. The process involves direct contact with providers for reservations and requires a private agreement to be signed upon arrival. The program allows for certain family members and adults over 18 to use the benefits under specific conditions and authorizations.
