Greece housing programs: 50% subsidies and new loan measures

Greece's Minister of Social Cohesion and Family, Domna Michailidou, announced new developments for the ‘Anakainoso’ (Renovate) and ‘Spiti Mou’ (My Home) housing programs.

Under the ‘Anakainoso’ program, which has received approximately 94,000 applications, beneficiaries will be able to submit supporting documents and declare planned expenses during October. This stage allows for a 50% advance payment of the total approved subsidy, which can reach up to 36,000 euros per property (covering 70% to 95% of eligible costs). The program aims to improve existing homes and revitalize closed properties for rental use.

Additionally, the government is preparing the ‘Spiti Mou 3’ program, expected to launch in early 2027. This initiative aims to help approximately 20,000 more citizens acquire homes by expanding criteria for property value and loan amounts. The new framework includes housing loans of up to 230,000 euros and an increased age limit of 55 years. Michailidou addressed concerns regarding rising real estate prices, stating that participating properties follow general market trends.
