Greece announces school sports day and exam schedules

The Greek Ministry of Education has announced several upcoming updates regarding the national school calendar and examination schedules for September 2026.

On September 25, schools across the country will observe the 13th Panhellenic School Sports Day, which coincides with European School Sports Day. Regular lessons will be suspended in favor of organized athletic and kinetic activities under the theme ‘Jump towards the Future’. A central activity involves a symbolic standing long jump at 10:00 AM, designed to be inclusive of all students, including those with disabilities or special educational needs.

Additionally, the schedule for the 2026 Panhellenic re-examination period has been released. For students in Vocational Lyceums (EPAL), exams begin on Tuesday, September 22, with Modern Greek, followed by Mathematics on September 23, Anatomy-Physiology on September 24, and Elements of Machines and Modern History on September 25. All exams are scheduled to start at 4:00 PM, with students required to arrive at least 30 minutes prior.
