Greece announces supplementary support for young farmers

New supplementary income support for young farmers in Greece has been announced, with payments ranging from 46 to 130 euros per hectare. According to a circular from the Independent Authority for Public Revenue (AADE) regarding the new Single Application for Support, the average support is set at 70 euros per hectare.

The aid is provided as an annual decoupled payment for eligible hectares, covering up to 25 hectares per beneficiary. This support can be paid out for a five-year period, lasting until at least 2027. To qualify, applicants must meet cumulative criteria involving age, the duration since their first establishment in agriculture, and specific educational or professional qualifications.

Eligibility is open to both natural and legal persons. For individuals, the applicant must have turned 18 within the year of support and must not have exceeded 40 years of age during the first year of application. Additionally, the agricultural holding must have been established for the first time either in the year of support or within the five years preceding the first application.
