Greek Minister Eugangelos Tournas launches nationwide checks of uncleaned lots

The Ministry of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection reported that 765,489 cleaning declarations for uncleaned parcels have been entered into the akatharista.gov.gr platform, an increase over the previous year.

Starting today, a nationwide inspection regime is being implemented. Municipalities are tasked with carrying out checks and imposing measures, while fire services will investigate complaints, record hazardous sites and forward reports to the relevant municipalities.

Minister Eugangelos Tournas emphasized that prevention does not end with the platform deadline and called on private owners and local authorities to continue clearing combustible material throughout the fire season to protect citizens, property and the environment.
