Greece Calls for Full Implementation of UN Resolutions 541 and 550 on Cyprus
Greece urged the United Nations to fully apply Security Council resolutions 541 and 550, which call for respect of the sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of the Republic of Cyprus and reject recognition of any secessionist entity. The appeal was made during an Arria‑type meeting of the Security Council organized by the permanent missions of Pakistan and China. Greek officials stressed that adherence to the resolutions should guide all UN member states in addressing the Cyprus issue and highlighted the broader importance of upholding international law and the UN Charter for global peace and security.
The statement reflects Greece’s longstanding position on the Cyprus dispute and its emphasis on the rule of law as the cornerstone of international relations.
