Greece conducts nationwide school bus inspections

Following the start of the new school year on September 11, 2026, the Hellenic Police conducted a nationwide inspection of school buses across Greece. Out of 2,263 buses inspected, authorities issued 457 violations.

The majority of the infractions were related to driver fatigue and time management rather than mechanical issues. Specifically, 328 violations concerned tachographs and 58 related to non-compliance with working hours, accounting for approximately 84.5% of all recorded offenses. Other violations included speeding (10), missing fire extinguishers (9), failure to use seatbelts (7), and issues with technical inspections, tires, and driver documentation.

In addition to the inspections, police distributed educational leaflets to parents and students at various school complexes to promote road safety and traffic awareness.
