Zakynthos search continues for missing Romanian tourist

Greek authorities are conducting an extensive search operation for Silvia Lungu, a Romanian tourist who has been missing since September 12 in the Alykanas area of Zakynthos. Lungu was last seen at her hotel reception on the morning of September 12, and security footage reportedly captured her walking in the center of Alykanas around 10:00 AM.

Search efforts have intensified following witness reports suggesting she may have been near the Tsirogianni stream. The operation involves multiple agencies, including the Alykanas Police Department, the 6th EMAK unit from Patras with a trained search dog, the Zakynthos Fire Service, the Coast Guard, and Civil Protection using drones with thermal cameras.

The disappearance was officially reported on September 15, prompting involvement from the Romanian Embassy. Despite continuous efforts to scan the area “inch by inch,” no new evidence or traces of the woman have been found.
