Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis has announced a 2.2 billion euro package of economic and social measures at the 90th Thessaloniki International Fair, aimed at boosting disposable income and providing relief to various social groups through 2027.

Key provisions include a permanent annual increase of 400 euros for retirees over 65 starting in November 2026, and a gradual increase of the minimum wage to 1,000 euros by January 2028. Public sector employees are slated to receive a 500 euro gross Christmas bonus beginning in December 2027.

For the agricultural sector, the government plans to eliminate income tax for professional farmers earning up to 20,000 euros starting in 2026. Small businesses and self-employed professionals will benefit from reduced tax advances and revised tax criteria. Additionally, the package includes a new housing program, 'Siti Mou 3', and measures to reduce electricity costs by 50% for household public utility services starting in 2027.
