Greece's elevator registration deadline expires on June 30, 2026 – fines up to €5,000
The Ministry of Development’s General Secretariat for Industry has set a final deadline of 30 June 2026 for the compulsory registration of every elevator in Greece. Registration is performed free of charge through the online platform elevator.mindev.gov.gr using Taxisnet credentials and applies to all lifts – residential, commercial, mixed‑use, hotels, supermarkets, public‑access buildings, etc., regardless of prior certification.
After the deadline no further extensions will be granted. Non‑compliant owners, managers or legal representatives face administrative fines of €1,000 for residential buildings, €500 for commercial or mixed‑use premises and up to €5,000 for buildings open to the public. Elevators lacking a registration number cannot be legally maintained, and the Independent Market Surveillance Authority will begin compliance checks from 1 July 2026.
The registration generates a unique UUID that must appear on maintenance invoices. Temporary saves in the system are not sufficient; a final PDF with the UUID must be issued. Estimates suggest there are roughly 700,000 elevators nationwide, highlighting the scale of the undertaking.
