Greece emerges as major European data center investment hub
Greece is emerging as one of Europe’s fastest-growing investment destinations for data centers, with potential investments exceeding €5 billion over the next five years when including the hyperscale AI data center being developed by Public Power Corporation (PPC) in Kozani.
Currently, 21 data centers are operational in Greece, with an additional eight having secured connections to the ADMIE network. Major international players, including Microsoft, Digital Realty, and Data4, have already entered the market. A PwC study conducted for the Ministry of Digital Governance estimates expressed interest in power capacity between 1.4 and 2.2 GW.
According to the European Data Center Association (EUDCA) ‘State of European Data Centres 2026’ report, there is a shift in investment toward Southern Europe. Commercial colocation capacity in Greece is projected to grow from 31 MW in 2025 to 208 MW by 2031, representing an average annual growth rate of 33%—significantly higher than the 17% projected for the overall European market.
